I am a committed teacher and lecturer who works at Coventry and Warwick Universities as well as North Warwickshire and Hinckley College and Coventry University College. I generally tutor from A-level and above, but can also teach study-skills to dyslexics at GCSE level.
I did my teaching qualification at Oxford Brookes, and later graduated from Warwick University with an MA and PHD. I have special interests in teaching dyslexics and in the teaching of Social Sciences and Arts.
I am a passionate advocate of online learning. I believe online communities, forums, and social networks boosted my ‘real’ education; my university experience, even in the best of classes, simply doesn’t compare with all of the learning, sharing, and knowledge acquisition that happened for me online through shared learning.
This transformative experience, learning through others, works extremely well for dyslexic and non-traditional learners at every level of education. Sitting still and taking written notes is not the only way to learn! Discussion, drawing, sharing, visualisation, audio recording, imagery – there are many ways to explore, record, and learn. Let’s try some together….
